  2. Glenn Byington says:

This is outstanding being a Byington and related to both Sam and Jack. (Both Great Uncle’s)
I’m carrying on the tradition of Byington Hockey at age 54. I’m still playing in a pick up league in Mississauga, Ontario.

I was looking at the picture you have of the 1938 Portland Hockey Team and was shocked to find my grandfather’s name spelled HAM Carr instead of Hiram as was his name. It would be appreciated if it was corrected on the site. My grandfather was not only on the hockey team, but worked for many years for Lens Cove Marina and helped to build many boats in the area. My grandmother Gladys was also very active in the village, having been part of many groups and was a friend to all. My uncle Don and my father Art were also very active in Portland, my father taxied many people to the outer islands, guided many tourists and was very musically known for miles. They have all sinced passed away, my uncle and father just last year, but the Carr name is still well known in Portland and I’m proud to say that I was born and raised there as well.
